Chocolate Hazelnut Iced Mocha
A little coffee, a little chocolate, and a whole lot of delicious.

A Little About This Drink
If you’ve ever had trouble deciding between coffee and dessert, this drink might be the perfect solution. Chocolate and coffee are already a wonderful combination, but add a little hazelnut and something even better happens. The nutty sweetness rounds out the richness of the chocolate and gives the coffee a delicious, almost dessert-like flavor.
Chocolate Hazelnut Iced Mocha is the kind of drink you make when you’re in the mood for a little indulgence. It’s creamy, chocolatey, and surprisingly simple to prepare. You can make it as rich or as light as you like, depending on the milk and chocolate you choose. And while it certainly feels like a treat, there’s no special occasion required. Sometimes a Tuesday afternoon is reason enough.

THE RECIPE
Prep: 5 minutes | Makes: 1 drink
Ingredients
2 shots espresso (about 2 oz), cooled slightly
¾ cup milk or favorite milk alternative
1 tablespoon chocolate syrup
1–2 teaspoons alcohol-free hazelnut syrup
Ice
Whipped cream (optional)
Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Brew the espresso and allow it to cool slightly.
In a small cup, stir the chocolate syrup and hazelnut syrup into the espresso until combined.
Fill a tall glass with ice.
Pour in the milk, followed by the chocolate-hazelnut coffee mixture.
Stir gently until well combined.
Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of chocolate shavings or cocoa powder, if desired.
Make It Your Own
For a richer chocolate flavor, use dark chocolate syrup or add a little extra cocoa powder. Prefer a less sweet mocha? Reduce the syrups and let the coffee flavor shine through. Almond milk is especially delicious with hazelnut, while oat milk creates a wonderfully creamy texture. You can also use decaf espresso for an afternoon or evening treat.

Make It Special
Drizzle a little chocolate syrup around the inside of a clear glass before adding the ice and milk. Top your finished mocha with a generous swirl of whipped cream and a few chocolate shavings. For an extra-pretty presentation, dust the top with cocoa powder and serve with a reusable glass straw. It’s the kind of drink that looks like dessert and tastes like a little celebration.
What I Use
A simple milk frother makes it easy to add creamy foam and a little coffeehouse magic to your favorite drinks.
