Rosemary Blackberry Smash Mocktail Recipe
Sweet berries, fragrant rosemary, and a refreshing splash of sparkle.

A Little About This Drink
Blackberries are one of those fruits that seem almost too pretty to eat. Their deep purple color, juicy sweetness, and slightly tart flavor make them perfect for creating a beautiful drink. Add a sprig of fresh rosemary, and something interesting happens. The rosemary brings a subtle, woodsy fragrance that balances the sweetness of the berries and gives the whole drink a little personality.
Rosemary Blackberry Smash is a wonderful example of how a few simple ingredients can turn sparkling water into something special. The berries provide the color and flavor, lemon adds a bright citrus note, and a touch of honey brings everything together. It’s refreshing enough for a warm afternoon but elegant enough to serve at a dinner party. And that gorgeous color? That’s all from the blackberries!

THE RECIPE
Prep: 5 minutes | Makes: 1 drink
Ingredients
- 5 fresh blackberries, plus a few for garnish
- 1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 oz honey syrup (equal parts honey an warm water, stirred until combined)
- 5 oz plain sparkling water
- 1 fresh roseary sprig
- Plenty of Ice
Instructions
Place the blackberries, lemon juice, and honey syrup in the bottom of a sturdy glass.
Gently muddle the blackberries: Using a muddler or the back of a wooden spoon, press and twist to crush the berries and release their juice.
Lightly press the rosemary sprig between your fingers to release its fragrance, then add it to the glass.
Fill the glass with ice and pour in the sparkling water.
Stir gently to combine. If you prefer a smoother drink without blackberry seeds, strain the muddled berry mixture before adding the ice and sparkling water.
Garnish with a few fresh blackberries and an additional rosemary sprig, if desired.
Make It Your Own
Prefer a little sweetness? Add a drizzle of honey or simple syrup. For extra citrus flavor, try lemon instead of lime, or add a few slices of fresh ginger for a little kick.

Make It Special
Serve your Rosemary Blackberry Smash in a short, wide glass filled with ice. Thread two or three fresh blackberries onto a decorative cocktail pick and rest it across the rim. Add a fresh sprig of rosemary for a beautiful finishing touch. For an extra-special presentation, gently clap the rosemary between your palms before garnishing to release its wonderful fragrance. The combination of deep purple berries and fresh green rosemary makes this drink as lovely to look at as it is to sip.
What I Use
A soda maker such as SodaStream or DrinkMate makes it easy to have fresh sparkling water whenever you want it. Add your favorite juice after carbonating.
